H&W training prog for teachers begins

Directorate of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) along with State Health Society and Education (S) has launched a four-day health and wellness (H&W) training programme for school teachers of Wangoi Block at SCERT training hall, Lamphel from Monday.
The inaugural function of the training programme which is being organised under Ayush-man Bharat was attended by SCERT head of office Jim Golden Thingujam, SCERT joint directors Khulem Ashok and Rajeshwar Sharma, programme co-ordinator Yumnam Nandini and Th Kenila of Education (S) as the presidium members.
Addressing the participants, Jim Golden said that Ayushman Bharat is one of the largest healthcare schemes in the world.
There are two components of the scheme -Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which covers health insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh to a family in a year and the other is to set up 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres in the country so as to ensure primary healthcare service to the people, he explained.
In order to improve the primary healthcare service delivery by Ayushman Bharat-health and wellness task force, promotion of health through school education has been incorporated in the key reforms and suggestions.
As such, the training programme is being organised to promote primary health care through school teachers, Jim Golden added.
On the first day of the training programme, Th Kenila Devi talked on the topic 'Growing up healthy' and SCERT lecturer S Bidyananda on Safety and security against violence and injuries' as resource persons during the technical session.
