Floral tribute paid to religious leaders

A tribute event to honour religious leaders who took important roles in spear heading efforts towards safeguarding and promoting the Meetei culture, tradition, religion and society in particular, was held on Friday at the residence of one Sanabam Amuchou Meitei at Nambol Kabowakching on Friday.
As part of the event, people offered flowers to the portraits of the religious leaders and a two-minute silence was observed as mark of respect to the departed souls.
The programme was attended by CI College Bishnupur retired associate professor Ibopishak Nongthomba, Wangkhei Angom Leikai Nongdam Shanglen member Ningombam Chinglen, Salam Heramani Meitei, N Nabakanta, Manipur University Culture retired associate professor Dr Makhonmani Mongshaba, DM University PESS department's RK Chandrakumar and LTL president Kh Nimai as dais members.
Delivering his speech, Sanabam Rameshore pointed out that the Meetei society can be developed and can excel from others if the people of the community have clear ideas of its origin and tradition.
He urged the public to follow the footsteps of the religious leaders so as to promote the tradition, culture and religion of Meetei to the global platform.
