Imphal, November 10 2024: A book titled 'Kabui Custom-1946' edited by Star Kamei was released on Sunday at Keishamthong Kabui community hall in the presence of Keishamthong Kabui Youth Union vice president Dr Amor Remmei, Keishamthong Kabui Women's Society president Ajin Kamei, Keishamthong Kabui Development Committee president Raj Golmei and book's editor Star Kamei as members on the dais.

Reflecting on historical background of Kabui custom, Star Kamei said it has been thriving since time immemorial due to reverence by the community, even without any written authoritative account of ritual canons.

However, there had been a phase when practice of traditional rites and rituals were diluted owing to deviation from prescribed norms in some Kabui villages, consequently compelling the Kabui Naga Association facilitate a meeting of insightful elderly Kabui people.

The said meeting held from February 22 to 24, 1947 at Keishamthong Kabui Khul, he reminded, adopted various resolutions to uphold the customary practices as followed by the forefathers.

Stating that it imperative to have an insight into the past for better understanding of present and the future, Star Kamei reasoned that he compiled documents available for safeguard of the Kabui custom and practices in the form of a book, the first ever written record of the Kabui community.
