Transgender certificate distributed

Bishnupur, September 10 2021: Bishnupur district deputy commissioner (DC) Th Krishnakumar handed over identification card and certificate to two transgender of Bishnupur who are registered in the national portal transgender.dosje.gov.in under the Ministry of social justice and empowerment, on Friday at his office chamber.

Briefly speaking on the occasion, Krishnakumar informed that the transgender community needs to register in the national portal by submitting necessary documents so as to avail the benefits provided by state and central governments.

A dedicated nodal officer AC to DC L Bobby has been appointed by district administration for convenience of the transgender, he added.

Pointing out that several initiatives to empower transgender are being taken up, the DC also recalled that the district administration had extended a sum of Rs 1500 and edible items to 35 transgender people to mitigate their hardships from the onslaught of Covid-19 pandemic.

The district administration also supported the implementation of Garima Greh Scheme, he added.

The DC also informed that handing over of the certificate and J-card to transgender is the first of its kind not only in Manipur but also in North East.

The distribution function was attended by ADM H Bobby Sharma, AC to DC L Bobby Singh and district manager IT Prashanta Oinam among others.
