EAA's new production 'Lakho Bano' staged

'Lakho Bano', a new production of Eastern Artistes' Association (EAA), Bamon Kampu Makha Leikai, based on Nata Sankirtana was staged along with Sajibu Khudol Tamba (gift presentation) event to artistes and instructors of the association at the local community hall on Sunday.
Khangabok MLA Okram Surjakumar and association president Dr Dhanabir Laishram attended the event as chief guest and president respectively while JNMDA former guru Th Ibohal and social worker I Aken were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Surjakumar termed the recent policy of making Hindi up to class 10 in the northeast states as unfortunate.
He said that the new policy has the po-tential to endanger the languages of small communities in the region.
It needs extensive deliberation by the intellects and academicians of the region, he added.
Further stating that culture is an integral part of human civilisation, he stressed that as Manipuris have a position in the international platform due to its rich culture and tradition, everybody should play their part in promoting the culture, tradition, heritage and language of the state.
The MLA also lauded the association for its role and activities towards promotion of art and culture.
In his address, Dr Dhanabir Laishram said that those working in the field of art and culture should keep aside their ego and follow the Guru Sishya Parampara.
An artiste can never attain success with ego, he cautioned.
