Imphal, January 09 2025:
Indigenous Mothers' Association Haomee (IMAH) denounced the assault on a Liangmai woman by Kuki at Lungwiram in Konsa Khul Part-2 on January 7.In a release, IMAH president Dr Sanatampha Rajkumari demanded that the government arrest and punish those involved in the assault according to the law.
"The government appeared to be offering only lip service regarding actions against those responsible for the killings of numerous Meetei women and children.
This lack of action has now led to the assault on Liangmei woman," she said.
"Repeated compromises made over time have emboldened the Kukis, while reducing others to mere insects," Dr Sanatampha added.
She said that the land intended for house construction is owned by Liangmai community, and Kuki have no authority to intervene in the matter.
Despite registration of numerous FIRs against Kukis for different crimes, the failure to initiate actions against them makes them unfazed.
It has become habitual for the Kukis to provoke other indigenous communities.
The government must respond and take befitting actions against them as per the law, she added.
