79th Hiroshima Day observed in state

Indo-Japan Friendship Association Manipur observed the 79th Hiroshima Day at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday during which a two minutes' silence was observed as mark of respect to those who died in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing, members of the association who passed away and those who lost their lives in the present crisis.
The function was attended by Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited chairman MLA Kh Ibomcha, MU Department of English former head Professor Thounaojam Ratankumar and Sahitya Akademi awardee Saratchand Thiyam as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Speaking at the event, MLA Kh Ibomcha emphasised that as people of Manipur are facing unprecedented hardships due to the unrest situation crisis all must contribute to help resolve the crisis.
Moreover, all should join hands in case of challenge posed to the state and attempts made to disintegrate Manipur, he stressed while dismissing the demand for separate administration or union territory as wishful thinking.
He also called upon all concerned to air grievance, if any, in a democratic manner, with strict adherence to laws of the land.
In his address, Saratchand Thiyam remarked futility of violence and wars as witnessed in the past as none of these conflicts benehtted any section of the society.
We need to learn a lot from the Japanese people, especially regarding their love for their motherland, he said.
