Imphal, September 04 2024:
Venting angst over alleged silence/inaction by the Governor and the chief minister of Manipur against Kuki militants who attacked Meetei villages in Koutruk, Kadangband, and Senjam Chirang with drone bombs, women vendors from Khwairamband Ima Keithel attempted to march towards the chief minister's official residence on Tuesday.
En-route to the CM's bungalow, the women vendors halted by police at BT Road, where one Laishram Mema, while speaking to reporters, enquired as to why the Governor and the chief minister are hesitating to take decisive action against the Kuki narco-terrorists.
While reminding that residences of the Governor and the chief minister as well as other vital installations are within striking range of the drone attack, she also condemned destruction of sacred and religious sites by Kuki militants and expressed disappointment that the chief minister and the Governor have failed to take Suitable action.
Mema also questioned rationale for the Manipur legislators, with exception of the Kuki MLAs, not condemning acts of Kuki militants.
Likening the recent attacks by Kuki militants with use of drones and highly sophisticated weapons to a conflict between two nations, she pointed out that it is imperative that both the state and central governments take firm action against the Kuki militants.
