Student bodies caution public on fraud agents, institutions

Manipuri student bodies based in other states of the country have alerted parents and students of the state that fraud agents might try to lure them admit in dubious institutions taking undue advantage of most of the educational institutions in the country processing admission through the online mode.
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU); Manipuri Youth and Students' Organisation, Mysore (MYSOM); Bangalore Manipur Students' Association (BMSA); Shillong Manipuri Students' Union (SMSU); Manipur Students' Association, Kolkata (MASAK) and Manipur Students' Association, Chandigarh (MSAC) conducted a joint press conference in this regard at AMSU head office here on Wednesday.
Speaking to media persons, AMSU external affairs secretary Wangjam Sanatomba Meitei pointed out that there were many cases of fraud in the past where agents assigned by fake institutions took money from innocent people on the assurance of ensuring admission in educational institutions outside the state.
In view of such fraud cases, AMSU will join hands with Manipuri student bodies based in different parts of the country and take up ini tiatives to help and guide Manipuri students in the admission process in government recognised institutions so that the students do not face such unfortunate incidents, he said.
Highlighting the need for conducting cultural exchange programme with Manipuri organisations in different parts of the country and to help one another in times of need, Sanatomba urged to stand united for Manipur despite living miles away from one another and also prevent unscrupulous elements from trying to destroy the lives of students.
Parents should also be cautious about fake agents and AMSU will extend all possible help in the matter, he said.
