Imphal, January 04 2024:
With the conflict continuing in the state even after eight months of its eruption, the main priority should be to protect the territorial integrity of the state.
The government also needs to step up action against the attackers instead of continuing to conduct operation in the final destinations of the bullets or where injuries are reported, said Shiv Sena Manipur president M Tombi.
In a press release issued Thursday, Tombi extended deepest condolences over the Lilong incident and urged the government to live up to its assurances of helping the deceased people without any discrimination.
He also appealed to both Meetei and Meitei Pangal communities not to view the incident through communal lenses, adding that the incident resulted from some "private disagreements".
He then urged for concerted efforts towards restoring peace and normalcy in the state.
