Liquor-Free Town campaign launched in Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, December 03 2023:
'Liquor-Free Kangpokpi Town' campaign, a joint initiative of Anti-Drug Cell Kangpokpi Police and Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship (KTCF), kicked off in Kangpokpi town with a huge seizure of liquor on Sunday morning.
The campaign is supported and assisted by Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation (KWWO) and Kangpokpi Youth Union (KYU) under the aegis of Kangpokpi Town Committee (KTC) .
Earlier, the Anti-Drug Cell Kangpokpi Police and Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship had, on several occasions, made public announcement notifying that the "Liquor-Free Kangpokpi Town" campaign will begin on December 1 and served strict ultimatum to all liquor vendors in the town to switch their business to other healthier livelihood activities on or before December 1 .
Around 247 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth approximately Rs 1,37,500 were seized during the joint drive on Sunday morning.
Later; the seized liquors were destroyed in front of public at downtown IT Road Bazar, Kangpokpi.
Several initiatives to curb the problems arising out of excessive use of liquor in the town had failed leading to extensive increase in various law and order disturbance, overdose death among others.
