Imphal, July 03 2022:
While asserting that the developmental works taken up by the government are not compatible with the topography of the state which lies in a high seismic zone and its soil is mostly of sedimentary rock form, Manipur State Council Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) has demanded the government to take up developmental works which could withstand natural disaster.
In a release, MSC/CPI assistant secretary M Joykumar Luwang informed that a conference organised by CPI Imphal East after every three years was held at Sinam community hall and discussed several issues related to state, national and international level.
Contending that International Monetary Fund and World Bank, which are non-socialistic financial groups of G-7 countries led by the USA, have been trying to suppress the underdeveloped and developing countries, he said that India too follows these policies and subsequently the poor are getting poorer and rich are becoming billionaires.
Moreover, the cruelty of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dictatorial and fundamentalist 'Hindutva' government is increasing, he alleged.
With reference to the tragic landslide in Noney district, MSC CPI secretary Sotinkumar pointed out during the meeting that the developmental works taken up by the government in the state, which lies in an earthquake prone zone with soil of sedimentary rock nature, are imperfect.
As there are several lineaments under the ground, earthquake proof developmental works are required in construction of railways and roads, he opined.
The conference also elected H Bimola as district secretary, Bhogen and Tombi as assistant secretaries and Pa kpi Devi as district treasurer, the release added.
