Imphal, February 03 2022:
Around 350 key workers of BJP and NPP have joined the INC in Patsoi assembly constituency and they were accorded a warm welcome at MLA Ak Mirabai's Taobungkhok residence on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering, Mirabai said that the benefits for poor people under various schemes have been snatched away ever since the coming of BJP government at the Centre and in the state.
In view of BJP's snatching of entitlements for the poor people and violation of democratic norms and Constitution, many workers are leaving the saffron party and reposing faith in Congress party.
According to Ak Mirabai, people's respect upon legislators/law makers is diminishing nowadays much due to 'out of bound' nature of MLAs who belittle the meaning of politics or political party and the same is being endorsed by BJP and the party is helping towards undermining constitutional norms.
BJP vociferously promised to execute whatever the past Congress government could not do in 15 years within 15 months but end up changing names of development projects brought by Congress government, she said and maintained that BJP is a party which speaks one thing and acts contradictory.
She alleged that BJP government in the state is still unable to release wages for job card holders and has converted elected representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions as contractors.
It was during the tenure of Congress government that power sector was significantly improved by introducing pre-paid system but the present BJP government is unable to deliver even prepaid meter kit to consumer and power outage occurs almost every day, she said, and wryly commented that this is the 'gift' of BJP government to people of the state.
