TASWA grateful for cleaning Takmu Pat

Thanga Awang Students' Welfare Association (TASWA) has expressed gratitude to the chief minister, fisheries department, Loktak Development Authority (LDA) and Thanga MLA for swift response to their appeal for cleansing the Takmu Pat.
Addressing a press meet in this regard at Manipur Press Club, here, on Friday, TASWA president Tongbram Jiten said that they submitted a six-point memorandum to the chief minister for taking up activities under Takmu Pat Cleansing Mission on November 19.The six points mentioned in the memorandum were - removal of Phumdi (floating biomass) from Takmu Experimental Fish Farm; development of nursery ponds; construction of rest tower to provide safe space to fishers during rough weather; proper identification of boundary for the fish farm to prevent encroachment; and to post committed district fishery officer for ensuring accountability and transparency in execution of projects.
While thanking the government authority for taking up the Phumdi clearance works, he appealed to the government to fulfil the remaining demands as well at the earliest.
