Govt discusses Tml bamboo project

Imphal, December 20: A high level meeting was held at Raj Bhavan with the Governor in the chair to discuss a proposal for setting up a Bamboo and Cane Development Organization for Tamenglong to harness the bamboo and cane product.

A release issued by the Commissioner (Com and Ind) AR Khan today said that the meeting discussed the proposal for a Rs 5 crore project on development of bamboo and cane in Tamenglong district.

International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) and the Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre, Guwahati will be associated in the preparation and implementation of the project, said the release.

The Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India will be approached for Central assistance.

The State Govt will take up the project through INBAR which will submit a detailed project report and the Governor will review the same on January 10 next year.
