CCpur, January 03:
Doubts have been raised over the death of Haulianthanga (Sepoy no 4365475p) who was posted with the 35 Rastriya Rifles in Jammu and Kashmir on December 26.The army authority said that he died due to self inflicted gun wounds but the facts available here tell a different story.
The death of the jawan came to the notice of the family members in Churachandpur on December 27 when an army chaplain call to say that Haulianthanga went missing and was found dead later.
The family members were told that he had committed suicide.
The post mortem report in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir said that the deceased had died due to gunshot injuries and the physical casualty certificate said that he died apparently due to self-inflicted injuries from his own weapon at Chhunj Coy, district Budgam on December 26. This was accompanied by a No Objection Certificate from the police house officer on plain paper stating that no foul play was suspected in the circumstances leading to the death.
When the body was brought home on December 30, a post mortem was conducted after getting permission from the District Magistrate and police authorities.
At least 8 bullet wounds were found on the body of the deceased.
Two of them were on the right thigh while another two were found in the buttock.
It is interesting to note that all the bullet wounds are below the waistline.
Injuries were found even in the deceaseds private parts.
The body was naked except for a thin plastic sheet.
A number of people have raised the question why a person attempting suicide should shoot himself below the waist and managed to do so as many as 8 times.
Family members suspect that the army authorities are trying to cover up the case.
The deceased also recently rang up a friend at Shillong to tell him that he (Haulianthanga) had a quarrel with some other individuals.
