Works Minister inspects Waishel Maril

Imphal, August 30 2014 : Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar along with IFCD officials today inspected Waishel Maril at Samusang Shantipur which has flooded many adjoining fish farms and paddy fields due to clogging of the canal by wastes products and over-growing water hyacinths.

The Works Minister and the IFCD officials interacted with the local people and discussed ways to clear the wastes off Waishel Maril.

Speaking to mediapersons, the Works Minister asserted that due to heavy rainfall, water overflowing from the Nambul river flooded Waishel Maril in Nambol Pukhrambam, Sagolband, Keisamthong, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa and destroyed the adjoining fish and edible yam farms worth several lakhs.

He said, "Initiative to clean up the Waishel Maril was taken up in previous year too.

Since it would be difficult to undertake the same initiative manually this time, watermaster machine will be used for the cleaning process after discussing the matter with the LDA.

We are very hopeful that it will resolve the issue" .
