Imphal, July 30 2013:
Protesting the dilapidated condition of boys toilets, infuriated students of DM College of Science today went on the rampage and destroyed the outdoor toilet complex today.
With the toilet complex, reportedly constructed in 1994, considered unfit for usage due to water-logging and other inconveniences faced by the students, some male students armed with heavy hammers and crowbars struck down the walls of the four toilets.
According to DMC Science Students' union general secretary Okram Premjit college authorities were repeatedly urged to provide proper and basic facility but the genuine appeals had failed to evoke positive response till date.

Recounting that the education Minister M Okendro had assured to bring about positive changes in the education sector within six months, he alleged that not even 10 percent of the Minister's assurance has been translated into action.
Along with DESAM, the Students' union had proposed that the college authorities atleast repair the toilet complex on priority basis, Premjit asserted that students decided to dismantle the toilet to protest prolonged indifferent attitude of the college authorities.
The toilet problem is not only an issue for the male students as there is only one toilet attached to the girls' common room for the entire female students, he maintained.
DESAM secretary general A Thoithoi was also present at the media briefing.
