Imphal, November 29 2012:
Maintaining that the alleged physical assault of a Congress worker by Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir at the Sangai Festival was unbecoming of a Minister, MPP advisor O Joy has lodged a complaint with Governor Gurbachan Jagat demanding dismissal of Nasir from his ministerial post.
O Joy called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan at about 11 am today and they talked for about 40 minutes.
Later speaking to media persons, Joy said that he urged the Governor to drop Abdul Nasir from the Council of Ministers and also take up befitting action against the Agriculture Minister for his unruly behaviour.
He also condemned the failure of the police to take up any action against the Minister even though the Minister physically assaulted another man in full view of the public at Sangai Festival which is being organised at international level.

While a stall owner who offered meat of wild animals at the Sangai Festival was booked and the stall shut down, organisers have been overlooking the incident where the Agriculture Minister physically assaulted a man in full view of the public at the festival venue.
The veteran politician went on to ask, "What is the meaning of the saying that all men are equal before the law ? " .
If police cannot arrest a man who blatantly broke the law, they have no authority to arrest underground cadres.
Before the law, a Minister and a citizen must be equal, he asserted.
Minister Naseer had broken his solemn pledge about his faith in Indian constitution as sworn during the oath-taking ceremony of Ministers.
Joy stated people, not Ministers are real masters of the State.
As reportedly suggested by the Governor, Joy has decided to submit a representation to the Governor about the ugly incident.
"Though I would like to ask Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam personally about the inaction of police regarding the violent incident involving his Cabinet colleague and his failure to take up any action despite being MPCC president, no telephone contact could be made", Joy said.
If nether the Government nor the Governor takes up any action against Naseer, the matter may be raised in the State Assembly.
If no action is forthcoming even after that, it is up to the wisdom of the public, Joy added.
