Right to education stressed

Stressing on the right to education of young children, a one day Community Training Programme for Convenors of School Management and Development Committee of Schools of Education (S), District Council schools and aided schools under Kangpokpi block was organized by SSA/RTE Kangpokpi Block here today at SSA Training Hall, ZEO/ADPO Office Kangpokpi.
Ngahchong Kipgen, Zonal Education Officer/ADPO SSA, Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi attended the function as chief guest while K Brajagopal Singh, SSA Saitu Block was the resource person.
Speaking at the function, Ngahchong Kipgen said that SSA/RTE has been widely discussed and is now the most important subject matter in every administration.
She added that it is the responsibility of the parents/SMDC to adhere to the fundamental duties given under SSA/RTE by the Government of India.
In his keynote address, L Henboi, Coordinator, SSA Kangpokpi said that the Centre with an aim to educate the people established various education centres, such as Anganwadi, Sakshar Bharat Mission, JNV etc.
He continued that the people must know how to avail the benefits from these programmes while rendering cooperation and support.
Modern education is totally based on community, averred K Brajagopal Singh.
He continued that the role and responsibility of SMDC is one part of the RTE Act which cannot be ignored and is punishable if ignored while adding that anyone who objects to learning by children is also punishable.
RTE Act is the right of children to free and compulsory education in a neighbouring school till the completion of elementary education, pointed out K Brajagopal Singh who asserted that the main objective of the Government of India in distributing Mid Day Meals to students is to draw their attention and mind to attend school regularly.
He continued that the Government of India under SSA/RTE Act gives free uniform, text books, tuition fees, admission fees and other requirements for the children's elementary education.
K Brajagopal Singh also emphasized on the role and responsibility of SMDCs to meet the provisions of RTE Act 2009 while adding that development of a school is the responsibility and duty of SMDC.
