Imphal, August 28 2020:
Citing the untold misery being endured by all the citizens of the country on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) and the National Students Union of India (NSUI) have demanded deferment of both NEET and JEE which are scheduled in early September.
Asserting that no entrance examination like NEET and JEE should be conducted amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and demanding deferment of all such exams, MPYCC and NSUI State unit staged a sit-in protest at BT Road in front of Congress Bhavan here today.

The protest demonstration led by MPCC vice-president T Mangibabu, MPYCC president Mahananda Nungleppam and NSUI State unit president P Bankimchandra was participated by many Congress workers.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the protest demonstration, Bankimchandra said they strongly condemn the BJP Government's attempt to hold NEET and JEE in the midst of the untold misery caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He appealed to the Central Government to hold NEET, JEE and other such exams when the COVID-19 pandemic is contained to a manageable level and there is a guarantee that students appearing in these exams would be safe.
He went on to ask if the Government would be able to take responsibility in case any student is infected by the virus while appearing the exams.
The NSUI leader urged the State Government to persuade the HRD Ministry to postpone both NEET and JEE in the interest of the State.
Demanding deferment of NEET and JEE Mahananda Nungleppam questioned why students should be forced to appear the exams and expose themselves to COVID-19 when positive cases and fatality have been surging incessantly in the State and people are restricted from moving out.
