Imphal, September 27 2017: Major General Virendra Singh, IG of Assam Rifles (South) donated three postmortem kits to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal today.

The handing over event was attended by Prof Ch Arun Kumar Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS; Prof Th Bijoy Singh, HoD Forensic Medicine, RIMS and Prof H Nabachandra Singh, Medico legal adviser to Government of Manipur besides other distinguished officers from the Assam Rifles, according to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S).

Prof Th Bijoy Singh told the gathering that although the Department of Forensic Medicine is self sufficient, there are times where more postmortem kits are required like when there are many casualties.

He acknowledged the positive role being played by the Assam Rifles in Manipur and expressed gratitude for providing such useful kits to RIMS .

The Forensic Medicine Department of RIMS is the prime body conducting post mortem examination of the bodies in Manipur.

All the security forces in the State are largely dependent on this department for carrying out post mortem examination of their personnel, it said .

On behalf of the security forces in State and mainly Assam Rifles, Maj General Virendra Singh applauded the services being provided by RIMS in all the fields of medical sciences and thanked the faculties of RIMS for the same.
