Bomb scourge spreads to Bishnupur

The powerful bomb explosion at Keishampat which killed one Assam Rifles personnel yesterday was followed by another explosion in Bishnupur district this morning.
This time, it targeted at a patrol party of Gorkha Regiment.
Later, one Bangladeshi woman suspected to have triggered the blast was arrested by police.
The bomb exploded on the western side of Tiddim Road near the district Veterinary office at around 6.30 am.
According to Bishnupur DSP (Ops) M Rameshwar, the bomb exploded moments after a patrol party of 6/8 Gorkha Regiment went past the spot.
The was no human casualty and the blast did little damage to the surrounding area.
Materials collected from the blast site indicated that the explosive was an IED fitted with a power circuit.

A press release issued by DSP Rameshwar said that a combined team of district police commandos and 6/8 Gorkha Regiment conducted search operations in the surrounding areas of the blast site as well as other suspected areas.
In the course of the search operations, one suspect was pulled up.
She was found moving in a suspicious manner on the road leading to the Bishnupur DC office complex, just about 200 metres away from the blast site.
The arrested suspect has been identified as Narengbam Biromala Sinha alias Ayingbi alias Komina (25) d/o N Biramangol of Bhanugash, Mangalpur district, Bangladesh, presently staying at Kunjamani Handloom, Palace Compound opposite Angom Leirak crossing, Imphal East.
One preliminary question, Ayingbi disclosed that she is an important cadre of RPF/PLA and was involved in extortion and targeting security forces deployed in Bishnupur district.
She joined RPF/PLA under Captain Moramba in 2007.After completing basic military training, she put up at Kunjamani Handloom and underwent embroidery training there.
She planted and triggered today's bomb blast under the command of Lieutenant Thongam Ibemcha alias Pravabati alias Selly (46) of Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai.
Biromala alias Ayingbi was earlier arrested by police from Khagempalli Pankha on December 19, 2001, the DSP added.
