Imphal, August 25 2019:
Demanding adoption of a concrete resolution on handing over the mysterious death case of Ningthoujam Babysana to CBI in the State Assembly tomorrow, the JAC Against the Mysterious Death of Ningthoujam Babysana Chanu has planned extensive protest demonstrations.
Speaking to media persons at Imphal Public Library, Uripok Sorbon Thingel this afternoon, JAC convenor in-charge L Gyaneshori said that people of Thangmeiband AC would cease all daily activities tomorrow and stage protest demonstrations wearing black badges.
She then appealed to women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel and students of all educational institutions to wear black badges and stage similar protest demonstrations tomorrow.
She decried that the State Government, instead of delving into the facts and circumstances leading to the death of the minor student, has been projecting the JAC as bifurcated into two in their efforts to derail the people's sustained movement for justice.
There is no question of bifurcating the JAC into two, said the convenor in-charge.
Decrying the way police have been unleashing brute force on peaceful protesters, she said that the excessive force employed by the Government is an attempt to suppress the truth.
On the other hand, supporting the JAC's fight for justice, a relay hunger strike was launched today at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak.
As womenfolk of eight localities came out and launched the relay hunger strike, police drove away the protesters.
Undeterred, the protesters re-assembled to resume the relay hunger strike but they were again driven away by police.
Later, the womenfolk resumed their relay hunger strike at Khoirom Mandap.
Meanwhile father of late Ningthoujam Babysana, Ningthoujam Tomchou has appealed to all those concerned as well as the public not to spread any false rumours and baseless gossip about the family on social media.
Speaking to media persons at Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba Mapal community hall, Tomchou said that the death of his daughter has become a State issue with the public taking up agitation and protests demanding justice for Babysana.
He continued that some rumours began circulating on social media that his daughter hung herself and recently some other rumours began spreading on the same platform about his family which is highly condemnable.
Tomchou said that the family members and the JAC had demanded the SP Imphal West and Singjamei PS to provide the report of the 2nd post mortem examination of Babysana on August 16 but to no avail.
Then how did the claim that the post mortem report showed Babysana died of hanging, appeared on social media, he asked further questioning how details of a case which is being investigated by a specially constituted SIT were put up on social media even though it was refused to the family members and the JAC.
Appealing the people to help in ascertaining the identities of the miscreants who are spreading lies and rumours about his daughter and family on social media, N Tomchou demanded the Government to take up necessary action against these individuals at the earliest.
It may be mentioned that N Babysana (14) was found hung to death inside the hostel of Standard Robarth Hr Secondary School, Canchipur, in the morning of July 18 .
