The banquet was earlier planned for all officers and personnel but only five officers/personnel were invited from each unit considering the huge number, the DGP said.
"I got an opportunity to talk directly with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma last month during presentation of the President's Colour to Assam Police", P Doungel said.
During the talk, both the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister of Assam acknowledged the achievements made by Manipur Police during the last few months.
"I felt elated on hearing their acknowledgement but at the same time, I made a mental note that the credit should go to the officers and all ranks who performed their duties with dedication", he said.
People might have a notion that police are brash and bossy and one cannot expect any help from police but all the officers and ranks of Manipur Police have been performing their duties including maintenance of law and order, traffic control, checking smuggling and abuse of drugs and other intoxicating substances, tackling insurgency etc, the DGP stated.
He then hailed all supervisory officers starting from OCs, followers, clerical staff and VDF volunteers for performing their duties with dedication.
The DGP also wished every member of Manipur Police organisation to be successful and continue to serve the department and the people of Manipur in future too.
The DGP presented DG Commendation Certificates to 91 officers and personnel and cash rewards to 140 officers and personnel who had already received DG Commendation Discs.
Additional DGPs Ashutosh Kumar Sinha, L Kailun, Clay Khongsai, IGPs and DIGs were also present at the gathering.
