National Voters' Day held across State

Imphal, January 25 2023:
The National Voters' Day (NVD), 2023 was observed in different parts of the State to encourage participation of eligible voters in political process today while Superintendent of Police of Churachandpur Shivanand Surve received the Best Electoral Practices Award, 2022 (for Security Management) from President Droupadi Murmu on the occasion.
Imphal : The 13th National Voters' Day was observed today under the theme 'Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure' at Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy, Imphal.
The programme was organized by the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur.
Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar and Director General of Police (DGP) P Doungel attended the function as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
At the occasion, Dr Rajesh Kumar said that the recent Assembly election held in Manipur was peaceful.

Appreciation Certificates and Best Electoral Practices Awards for the year 2022-2023 were conferred on District Election Officers, Superintendents of Police, Electoral Registration Officers, Returning Officers, Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll Officers and Aadhaar Linkage Officers Special Case Awards were also distributed to Deputy Commissioners of Bishnupur and Thoubal districts.
CCpur : The programme at Churachandpur was held at the District Training Centre (DTC) Hall, Churachandpur today.
With the theme "Nothing like voting, I vote for sure," the NVD observance held under the auspices of the District Election Office, Churachandpur marked the launch of "Main Bharat Hoon" song.
Besides felicitating and distributing EPIC to newly enrolled voters on the occasion, NVD pledge was administered to all present.
The day marks the foundation of India's Election Commission which was established on January 25 in 1950 .
Sharath Chandra Arroju, District Election Officer/DC; Thienlaljoy Gangte, ADC; ERO/AEROs, District Level Officers of different departments, political party representatives, members of voters literacy clubs of various educational institutions of Churachandpur, philanthropic organizations, civil societies, students and newly enrolled voters attended the programme.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur Shivanand Surve received the Best Electoral Practices Award, 2022 (for Security Management) from President Droupadi Murmu on the occasion of National Voters' Day organised by the Election Commission of India at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantonment, Delhi.
The National Award was presented to the SP of Churachandpur in recognition of his performance in the conduct of last year's Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
Surve is among the seven officers selected for the general awards in the country.
Bishnupur : The District Election Office, Bishnupur celebrated the 13th National Voters' Day at Panchayat Resource Centre Hall in Bishnupur.
During the function, Electoral Photo Identity Cards (Voter ID) were distributed to newly enrolled voters besides launching a song titled "Main Bharat Hoon" .
Ejaj Hassan, AC to DC, CMO Dr L Raichandra Singh, DAO (Agriculture) K Jugeshwor, ZEO N Chingkhei Singh, DIO (IT) T Shantikumar, DLOs and staff of DC office participated in the celebration.
Kangpokpi : The 13th National Voters' Day, 2023 was also observed at the Multipurpose Hall of the DC office complex, Kangpokpi today.
The function was organised by the District Administration in collaboration with ERO 50-Kangpokpi.Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Deputy Commissioner Kengoo Zuringla said that the main purpose of the day is to create electoral awareness amongst citizens.
She advised everyone not to sell or allow anyone to buy their valuable votes.
The DC registered National Voters' pledge to those who attended the function.
The newly registered voters were also given the Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) .
Derick L Khobung, Additional Deputy Commissioner; Bungba Maibam, SDO Saikul; DLOs, NYK youth volunteers, students also attended the programme among others.
Senapati : Similar programme was also held at DRDA Conference Hall, Senapati.
At the event, DEO Senapati Mahesh Chaudhari stated that voting is a unique way of exercising one's right.
He also applauded the electioneering teams for their immense effort in preparation and smooth conduct of election in the district.
He said that the machine for printing EPIC is already available in the district.
He further said that the ECI has also brought a lot of change for old age persons and people working outside the State to cast their votes.
Later, the DEO, Senapati distributed EPIC to the newly registered voters and administered the National Voters' Day pledge.
The song 'Main Bharat Hoon' was also launched.
The National Voters' Day was also held at Thoubal and other parts of the State.
