Cycle rally spreads message of MANITEX 2019

Commerce and Industry Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh flagged off a cycle rally from Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound this morning and received the participants at Lamboikhongnangkhong this afternoon.
The rally was aimed at spreading message of the MANITEX towards promoting and preserving cultural heritage to weavers, artisans, textile workers and consumers.
MANITEX will be held from November 5 to 14 at Lamboikhongnangkhong.
Receiving the cyclists at Lamboikhongnangkhong, Biswajit welcomed the cyclists and expressed gratitude to all participants for extending support to MANITEX.
The rally, which started from Hapta Kangjeibung covered a distance of about 48.44 kilometres passing through Singjamei - Hiyangthang - Irom Meijrao - Pukhrambam - Kha Sanjembam - Wahengkhuman - Ishok - Oinam - FCI Godown and finally ending at Lamboikhongnangkhong.
More than 100 bikers participated in the rally including professional bikers, film personalities, weavers, artisans.
Addressing a formal reception function at Lamboikhongnangkhong, Biswajit said that this year's edition of MANITEX will have 12 international stalls and 56 stalls from other States of the country.
He said MANITEX will help in promoting local products to international level by providing a platform.
"Manipur has no dearth of talent or resources in any field, whether it is in art and culture or handloom and handicraft, but we are lagging behind in development because we are unable to utilise our God-gifted resources.
All of us have to make our own contributions to the development of the society", he said.
The reception ceremony was attended by Principal Secretary (TCI) P Vaiphei, Handloom and Handicraft Director Lamlee Kamei, among others.
Biswajit along with the officials also inspected the stalls being constructed for MANITEX.
It may be mentioned that the rally was received and flagged off from different spots along the route by the local MLAs including at Hiyangthang by Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA S Subhaschandra, at Irom Meijrao by Wangoi MLA O Lukhoi Singh, at Thambal Marik College, Oinam by MLA L Radhakishore, Phoijing Chingmang by MLA Dr K Ranjan Singh.
It may be mentioned that MANITEX, the Manipur International Textile Expo was conceived on May 22, 2018 with the objective to showcase all the textile products of Manipur.
