Inter-connected basement parking lots on the card

Imphal, July 24 2014:
Chief Minister O Ibobi today in-formed the Manipur Legislative Assembly that the State Government has been working to develop inter-connected parking lots in the basements of the three Ima Keithels of Khwairamband market.
The Government has already talked with the women vendors and the situation is such that an understanding can be achieved soon.
There is no place to accommodate all the women vendors coming from different parts of the State.
Never- theless, the Government made an agreement to give vending space to vegetable traders coming from rural areas of the State along Nagamapal road and other surrounding areas till 9.30 am every morning.
The Chief Minister made this statement during discussion of several demands tabled today in the State Assembly.
The demands tabled today pertained to Medical, Health and Family Welfare, Municipality Administration, Housing and Urban Development, Cooperation, Adminis- tration of Social Justice, Stationery and Printing, Science and Technology and Information Technology.

From the opposition bench, Dr I Ibohalbi, Th Shyamkumar, L Ibomcha and Kh Joykisan raised policy cut motions.
Clarifying on the policy cut motions, the Chief Minister stated that the problem of adulterated food items could have been tackled effectively had the sufficient number of Food Security Officers been appointed in time.
Ibobi was visibly furious over the Health Department's failure to recruit Food Security Officers even as the State Cabinet adopted a resolution towards this end almost one year back.
He asserted that responsibility should be fixed on the Health Director, the Commissioner and other relevant officers.
There have been instances where many people were hospitalized because of consu- ming adulterated food.
Necessary action could have been taken up much earlier against food adulteration and adulterated food items brought through Moreh.
It would not be an easy task to give Magisterial power and entrust the municipal area to the Executive Offi- cer of Imphal Municipality.
The Government would examine all the avenues which can enhance tax collection of Imphal Municipality.
As of now, Imphal Municipality has been collecting taxes for vehicle parking, properties, saloons, beauty parlours etc.
Garbage picking and disposal work in Imphal area has been re-started after the same work has been outsourced.
Moreover, police have been instructed to pull up defaulters who dispose waste mater- ials and garbage in public or improper sites.
While conceding that the State is still unable to reap full benefits of e-governance system, Ibobi claimed that the Government has already opened 399 common service centres and people of far off hill areas have started enjoying benefits of these centres.
Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing said that construction of 50-bedded hospitals being constructed in hill districts are on the verge of completion.
Plans are afoot to introduce physiotherapy in district hospitals and CHCs.
Already 20 ambulances have been given to the valley districts and 40 to hill districts under NRHM.
A case is pending in Court regarding supply of just 1200 mother kits as against the supply order for 16371 kits, The accused supplier has been pulled up.
The possibility conducting the trial at Imphal is being consulted with Law Department, Phungzathang stated.
Cooperation Minister AK Mirabai claimed that efforts are on to enact appropriate rules and Act which can bolster the cooperative movement in the State.
She attributed the downfall of cooperative movement in the State to lack of coordination, difference of opinions, divergent vision and unwillingness to take responsibility etc.
Later all the demands were passed after the opposition Members withdrew the policy cut motions.
