Month-long cleanliness drive at Khongjom War Memorial Complex

Imphal, March 24 2018: A month long cleanliness drive of the Khongjom War Memorial Complex has been launched on 23 March by S Goutam, SP Thoubal District Police with an eye on the state level Khongjom Day celebration to be observed on the 23rd of April.

According to the Superintendent of Police, the cleanliness drive is being conducted with the participation of 2 SDPOs, 7 OCs including one of Women Police, VDF from Tentha post, Wangjing and IB personnel from Khongjom.

He further added that the drive became necessary as the site is a major tourist spot and many officials from other states are expected to visit the complex during and after the Khongjom Day Celebration, but the present condition of this historical site is deplorable and needs to be spruced up, both from the point of view of aesthetics as well as security reasons.

The SP also stated that such cleanliness and beautification drives will be conducted at various places of the District in the days to come.
