TSE reporter receives 'promising scribe award'

Imphal, December 22 2021: Women Action for Development (WAD) has conferred the Promising Journalist Award, 2020 to the Staff Reporter of The Sangai Express, Sapam Aruna Devi, today.

Altogether four journalists were conferred different awards during a function held as a part of "16 days of activism against gender based violence" at Hotel Imphal at North AOC, today.

The awardees are Sapam Aruna Devi of The Sangai Express (Promising Journalist Award), Gender Journalist Award Usham Joyshree of Impact TV News, Babie Shirin of Imphal Free Press (Promising Journalist Award) and Ngangom Surajkumar Singh of Sanaleibak Daily (Promising Journalist Award) .

SDPO of Singjamei police station Luxmi Thingbaijam, Lecturer of SK Women College Priyadarshini Gangte, Advocate High Court of Manipur (retd Session Judge) A Noutuneshori and senior social worker Kh Jeevanmala were the presidium members of the function.

At the occasion, WAD secretary Sobita Mangsatabam said that Women Action for Development was established to check gender-based violence against women in Manipur.

WAD has been oragnising awareness programme on gender violence in remote areas, apart from urging the subsequent State Governments to establish a Fast Track Court and Women Commission to prevent violence against women, she added.
