Stranded trucks cross NH-2

Kangpokpi/Jiri, November 21 2012:
Around 60 stranded trucks crossed NH-2 with security escorts today.
The trucks were stranded at Senapati public ground for 3 days due to the ongoing Kuki State Demand Committee public blockade in every Kuki inhabited areas in the State.
The stranded trucks left Senapati at around 12 noon with State security forces escorting them along NH-2 with the help of the concerned police station.
The escorted trucks reached Kangpokpi at around 1 pm.
No untoward incident has been reported.
At the same time, all Govt institutions in Kangpokpi still remained closed due to the KSDC sponsored public blockade.
According to a reliable source, 4 trucks have been severely damaged and one driver was injured at Kangpokpi yesterday.
Confrontation among the bandh supporters and Kangpokpi Police occurred but no untoward incident happened.
Meanwhile, around 300 trucks were stranded at Gularthol in Jiribam due to the KSDC public blockade.
The loaded vehicles will leave for Imphal with security escort.
Even though the KSDC has assured safe passage of TET candidates and participants for Sangai Festival, vehicle drivers refused to ply fearing unprovoked backlash from blockade supporters.
