Mob storms auto workshop

Imphal, June 21 2011:
An automobile workshop run by Huidrom Surjitkumar who has been arrested by police for his involvement in the killing of pharmacist Jotin has been stormed by a mob from Yumnam Huidrom today.
A large crowd of people stormed Shantikumar's workshop located at Thongkhong Laxmi Bazar at around 8 am today.
The crowd smashed the wind-shield of a mini-truck parked there at the workshop.
Just as the mob started torching the mini-truck (MN-04A/3290), police reached the spot.
After dousing the fire, the police team succeeded in mollifying the irate mob.
Huidrom Shantikumar (33) of Yumnam Huidrom Mayai Leikai was arrested by Imphal West commandos from near his home on June 18 on the charge of a being a cadre of KCP-MTF (Sunil Meitei).
Acting on his disclosure, police seized one AK-56 rifle, two magazines and 20 live rounds which were kept hidden in the foothills of Sabungkhok Mayai Leikai.
He further admitted that he was involved in the killing of pharmacist Jotin as claimed by police.
It is reported that police have been maintaining a strict vigil around Yumnam Huidrom to avert any untoward incident.
It may be recalled that pharmacist Yumnam Jotin of Yumnam Huidrom Mayai Leikai was shot dead by some unidentified persons on his way home from his pharmacy located at Thongkhong Laxmi Bazar in the night of June 14 .
