Results of Cleanliness Competition declared ; Swachh Bharat Mission given competitive edge

The Manipur Urban Development Agency (MUDA) organised a series of cleanliness competition of Government office buildings and prmises from March 16 to March 20 under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) at the district headquarters of Imphal, Thoubal and Bishnupur.
Addressing a press conference at the conference hall of Old Secretariat today, Commissioner of MAHUD, K Radhakumar said that the respective Executive Officers were directed to conduct the survey through an independent panel of judges and to rank the offices based on, sanitation infrastructure in the office (weightage to score � 40%) which includes condition of urinals, condition of toilet seats and condition of hand-wash basins.
The other parameters included overall cleanliness (weightage to score � 40%) which includes cleanliness of corridors, littering and mechanism employed for proper disposal of solid waste (weightage to score � 20%) with proper mechanism for disposal of solid waste generated in the office.
In the cleanliness competition of Govt.office buildings in Imphal Municipal Corporation area, the Directorate of Treasury and Accounts and Local Fund Audit scored 17.07 marks each out of 20 and were jointly ranked first while Directorate of Planning and Forest Department scored 15.47 and 12.53 and were ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In Bishnupur Municipal Area, office of the EE (PHED), Bishnupur, office of the DFO (Forest), Bishnupur and office of the AD (Seri), Bishnupur came first, second and third respectively with 12.4, 8.8 and 8.2
In Thoubal Municipal Area, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Thoubal, office of the Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal and Fire Service, Thoubal came first, second and third with 15.0, 12.4 and 10.4 marks.
The Commissioner further said that in Imphal Municipal Area another Cleanliness Competition of Auto/Bus parking spaces was also held in association with Transport Department on January 10.This was participated by 18 associations/societies.
In this competition, RIMS Gate Auto Parking Association, JNIMS Gate Auto Parking Association and Keishampat Bus Bay Association bagged the first, second and third place respectively.
During Yaoshang festival, 2016 MUDA is also organizing Open Public Speaking Competition on the theme " Our responsibility in keeping our locality clean" .
Local/youth clubs and organizations which are desirous of conducting the competition as part of the Yaoshang Sports festival would be assisted with a sum of Rs 2000 by MUDA, added the Commissioner.
