More come forward for hunger strike

Laishram Gunindro and Leishangthem Pratap, who were arrested by police from their indefinite hunger strike venue located near THAU ground in the wee hours of August 18, are still continuing their stir at Central jail, Sajiwa.
It is said that they have refused to break their fast till today.
Pratap is the president of Naharol Leishemba Club and Gunindro is a member of Thangmeiband United Club.
On the other hand, health conditions of all the persons, who have been staging indefinite hunger strike at different places demanding implementation of ILPS in the State, are deteriorating.
Thongam (ongbi) Apabi (65) of Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai, who has been carrying on the stir at a waiting shed located opposite to THAU ground since August 18 morning, has become weak.

However, Apabi said that she would continue her fast until the demand for ILPS is fulfilled.
According to Thangmei-band United Club members, around 17 persons are ready to continue the stir one after another at the same venue even if Apabi is arrested by police.
On the otherhand, Tongbram Jetan (26) of Takyel Kolom, who has been staging hunger strike since the past three days at his locality, has started showing signs of urinary complicacy.
However, he said that there would be no let up in his agitation until the people's demand is met.
Jetan said that he an executive member of Kangleipak Chaokhatna Lup and does not have any political affiliation.
He said that he would not meet anybody except common people, media persons and civil society organisations spearheading ILPS movement.
On the other hand, functionaries of Kangleipak Chaokhatna Lup asked the MLAs and Ministers not to do anything to gain sympathy from the people.
Health of all the eight DESAM volunteers, who have been staging hunger strike in front of their office at Keishampat, is also deteriorating.
They have been identified as Ng Dinesh Meitei (21) of Kongba Nongthombam Leikai, Laiphrakpam Ronel (23) of Sagolband Bijoygovinda Keli Makhong, Maibam Dinachandra (20) of Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai, Laishram Dhaneshwori (21) of Waiton Mamang Leikai, Salam Nivash of Heirangoithong Yaingam Leirak, Loitongbam Premkumar of Ghari Awang Leikai, Elangbam Musuk of Hiyanglam Makha Leikai and Khoirom Jina of Lalambung Makhong Khoirom Leikai.
DESAM executives said that other volunteers would continue the stir.
