Ukhrul, December 19 2021:
Zingtun Tangkhul Katamnao Long (ZTKL) and Teinem Katamnao Long (TnKL) have resolved to boycott the proposed visit of Chief Minister N Biren Singh at LM Block, Ukhrul for inaugurating Sadbhavna Mandap, one bank and a police station there on Monday.
Both the student bodies issued separate statements to endorse the stand of Tangkhul Katamnao Sak-long (the apex Tangkhul students' body) to socially boycott the incumbent Chief Minister and the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly for allegedly being anti-tribal.
The students bodies directed the public to refrain from participating in the official programme which is scheduled to be held at LM Block which is located between Phalee and Teinem villages on Monday.
It might be mentioned that TKS declared social boycott against the Chief Minister and the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly on September 5, 2021 .
The TKS observed that the 'aggressive territorial pursuit of the State Government through legislative fraud such as the Manipur International University Act, 2021 and Manipur Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing (Promotion & Facilitation) Bill, 2021 is a threat to tribal existence, identity, land and culture'.
The student body reminded that there is no khas land in the hill areas of Manipur and the ownership of land in hill villages of Manipur vests with the villagers themselves.
The TKS also demanded immediate revocation of the impugned order issued by the Speaker on September 1, 2021 and timely tabling of the proposed Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Councils Bill, 2021 recommended by the Hill Areas Committee.
The student body resolved to not cooperate with the State Government in any matters and socially boycott the Chief Minister and the Speaker until its demand is entertained.
