Imphal, October 19 2016:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has lambasted Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang's visit to the State.
Accusing TR Zeliang of polarising people on ethnic lines in his home State of Nagaland, AMUCO asserted that his visit to the State was aimed at provoking communal conflagration in Manipur.
Speaking to media persons at their Kwakeithel office this afternoon, AMUCO president Ph Deban said that Zeliang's presence at a public meeting held today at Yaikongpao had a hidden agenda to disunite the people of Manipur on communal lines.
Pointing out the demand for Union Territory raised by the Eastern Nagas of Nagaland, Deban said that the Nagaland Chief Minister was making undue interference in the affairs of Manipur rather than focusing his attention in the affairs of his home State.
Further stating that TR Zeliang was a key player in disintegrating the Naga Hoho, the AMUCO president asked how he (TR Zeliang) could bring peace and unity among the Nagas of Manipur.
He further advised the Nagaland Chief Minister to share his empathy with the Nagas of Eastern Nagaland instead of worrying for the Nagas of Manipur unnecessarily.
TR Zeliang need not worry for the Nagas of Manipur for all communities settled in Manipur have been living in peace and harmony.
TR Zeliang's visit to the State was also aimed at exploiting the natural resources (both underground and overground) of Manipur in cahoot with the Government of India, NSCN-IM and MNCs.
The meeting held at Yaikongpao was a deceitful one and the Nagas of Manipur were aware about.
They remained silent out of fear.
Referring to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's statement that the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM has reached the final stage, Deban said that AMUCO would not raise a single voice of objection when a final solution is worked out in the best interest of the two entities provided it is confined to the State of Nagaland.
However, AMUCO would not remain silent if the solution challenges the integrity of Manipur in any manner.
AMUCO has been closely monitoring the political dialogue going on between Government of India and NSCN-IM.
The historic civil movement of June 2001 was invited by the then NDA Government and again it was the BJP led NDA Government which signed the Framework Agreement last year, he pointed out.
AMUCO is committed to the territorial integrity of Manipur, Deban said and added that they can go to any length to safeguard the integrity of the State.
