More join hunger strike

Imphal, August 19 2015: More people are coming forward to join the hunger strike deman-ding implementation of ILPS and termination of police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood.

Two individuals, Tong-bram Jetan Singh, 26, s/o Thongbram Ibomcha Singh of Takyel Kolom Leikai and Thangjam Puremba, 18, s/o Th Kulachandra of Khurai Thangjam Leikai launched indefinite hunger strike separately at Takyel Kolom Leikai Waiting shed and Khurai Ahongei Government P/S respectively.

While Jetan joined the hunger strike from early morning yesterday, Puremba began the protest from 3pm yesterday.

On the other hand, a Class X student of D Regina High School and Chingmeingrong Mamang Awang Leikai Shinglup Committee Secretary Sh Krishnamani have launched fast unto death stir at Chingmeirong today for the same cause.

The student who joined the hunger strike at Chingmeirong has been identified as Ngaidoinei Vaiphei alias Boinu (16) d/o Lalit Mohan.

They said that they would continue their agitation until a Bill effective enough to protect indigenous people of Manipur is passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
