JNIMS celebrates foundation day : CM underscores professionalism, ethics

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that the State Government has taken up various welfare initiatives which primarily focuses on the health and education sector.
Speaking as the chief guest at the 14th foundation day of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) at its auditorium today, the Chief Minister continued that under the recently introduced "Health for All" scheme, doctors, nurses and health care wor-kers are providing health screening and testing facilities to the people at their doorsteps.
He appreciated the doctors, nurses, ASHA workers and paramedics for their contribution towards saving precious lives during the first and second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

He also urged the health experts to maintain professionalism and ethics while serving the people.
The State Government has been urging the Centre to upgrade the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) to the status of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Chief Minister said.
Mentioning that a cancer hospital would soon be set up at JNIMS under PPP model, N Biren maintained that the Government is also considering to raise MBBS seats at JNIMS.
Further stating that Manipur won three awards at the State of States' Award 2021, Biren asserted that the State has been awarded Most Improved Small State Overall, Best Performing Small State in Governance and Best Improved Small State in Agriculture.
He said that the Government could achieve such a feat due to the support of the people.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated PSA Oxygen Plant, CT-Scan machine at JNIMS and State Bank of India, JNIMS Branch.
N Biren Singh and other dignitaries of the function also distributed awards to the meritorious students of JNIMS.
Advisor to Chief Minister (Health) Dr Sapam Ranjan, Chairman LDA and MSPDCL L Susindro Meitei, Addl Chief Secretary (Health) V Vumlunmang, Director JNIMS Dr L Deben Singh, teaching and non-teaching staff of JNIMS and students too attended the function.
Earlier, the Chief Minister flagged off a walkathon under the Eat Right Mela 2021-2022, an awareness programme to eat right and maintain good health from the Medical Directorate, Lamphel.
