JAC to boycott proposed inauguration of power sub-station

Imphal, December 18 2015 : The JAC against anti-tribal Bills has decided to boycott the proposed inauguration of a power sub-station at Vangai area, Churachandpur district by the Chief Minister in the presence of some tribal MLAs on Dec 22 .

According to a statement, the JAC,decided to oppose the proposed programme after a deliberation.

The JAC said that the same power sub-station was ready and planned to be inaugurated four years ago.

With the current turmoil in the tribal territories of Manipur following the passing of three 'anti-tribal' Bills by the State Assembly and ever growing resentment against the Manipur Govt, the inauguration of the power sub-station is anticipated as a ploy to appease the tribal populace while at the same time utterly disregarding the sentiments of the tribals, the JAC said.

The JAC as such resolved to boycott the proposed inauguration of the power sub-station.

It further decided to oppose any attempt by the Manipur Govt to proceed with the said programme as well as programmes of similar nature at this juncture.

The JAC further urged the public not to participate in the proposed programme.
