Ukhrul ZEO office shut indefinitely

Ukhrul, September 18 2015 :
The Tangkhul Frontal Organizations (TFOs) consisting of 8 local bodies TNL, TSL, TKS, Headmen Association, TNWL and four zonal bodies of Ukhrul district has indefinitely shut down the ZEO office, Ukhrul yesterday at around 4 pm allegedly for fund mis-appropriation and corruption by the department.
The TFOs submitted a memorandum highlighting a charter of demands to the Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul yesterday.
In their memo the body demanded that construction of any school building taken up under the project should be constructed according to the guidelines approved by the Project Approval Board (PAB), where GPS mapping is necessary before construction, it further demanded that the sanctioned sum/fund withdrawn for school building construction has to be re-deposited in the name SMDC account.

They also laid down that SSA guidelines should be followed in the civil construction work and should be implemented through SMDC.
In the memo, the TFOs directed that the utilization reports be submitted at the earliest.
ZEO office, Ukhrul has been locked and indefinitely shut down by the TFOs since yesterday, rendering the office isolated and deserted today.
Till the time of filing this report, no staff or visitors were seen at the office as the main entrance gate was locked.
The TFOs has placed the responsibilities on the department concerned and added that they should not be held responsible for any untoward incident that may arise.
According to the memorandum, implementation of the project undertaken by SSA residential school, KGBV, RST for OoSC and other civil work should be immediately transferred and implemented through BRP, CRP and SMDC to avoid further fund mis-appropriation.
