Lamka, December 17 2013:
A BRO man posted with 80 RCC based at Thanlon was found killed late yesterday at a sugar cane farm near Bungmual village, about 5 kms from here with the district police taking the body for autopsy to Imphal.
Sources in the village where the body has been recovered said that the man was in possession of an identity card in the name of Sunil Kumar Chowdhury, engaged with 80-RCC BRTF.
As the IO in-charge was still in Imphal at the time of filing this report details of the deceased could not be verified as the SP Churachandpur has as well maintained that he himself has not been briefed by the IO concerned.
Local media reports however said that the BRO man was on his way home after obtaining leave, before his lifeless body was recovered.
The body reportedly bore injury marks on his forehead and throat.
The killing comes amidst report of some armed men reportedly demanding ransom to the labourers engaged in patching works of Tedim Road sometime on Sunday evening.
When queried the SP of Churachandpur L Mangkhogin said, he is in no position to link the two incidents as his forces have just begun investigating the cases.
Nevertheless, the BRTF has stalled their patching works since Monday and they were nowhere to be seen today either.
