CPI demands resignation of CM

The Communist Party of India (CPI) has reiterated its demand for resignation of Chief Minister N Biren.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at a National council meeting of CPI held at Ajay Bhavan, Delhi from July 13 to 15 .
The resolution says, "CPI is of the view that continuation of N Biren Singh as Chief Minister of Manipur will worsen the law and order situation in the State.
CPI reiterates its demand for immediate resignation of N Biren Singh as Chief Minister of Manipur and requests the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister to take appropriate steps to find a solution to the present problems in Manipur" .
The CPI National council meeting also expressed strong opposition against the three new criminal laws viz; Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) which came into force from July 1 .
Both CPI and INDIA Bloc oppose these laws as they were formulated to oppress the masses, said a press release issued by the CPI Manipur State Council.
The meeting also reviewed the results of the 18th Lok Sabha election.
CPI is completing 100 years this year and the centenary would be celebrated across the country starting from Kanpur, the birthplace of CPI, starting from December 26, 2024, it conveyed.
L Thoiren and S Memsana represented CPI Manipur State Council at the National council meeting, it added.
