Rozer murder case Four prosecution witnesses depose at Court

Four pro-secution witnesses appeared before the District and Sessions Court, Manipur West during the trial of the alleged murder case of Irom Rozer in the past three days.
On July 15, Additional District Magistrate, Imphal West N Ashokumar gave his statement before the Court regarding issuiance of licence of the gun, which was allegedly used in the killing of Rozer on March 20, 2011 at Ghari under Singjamei Police Station.
As a prosecution witness number 34, Rakesh, a local man from the incident site, also gave his statement on the circumstances leading to Rozer's death before the Court yesterday.
The Court also recorded the statements of alleged co-accused S Raj and witness Irom Ibomcha today.
Former Minister N Biren's son Nongthombam Ajoy of Luwangshangbam Mamang Leikai and four others were allegedly involved in the killing of Rozer.
The examination of the official statement submitted by N Ashokumar, Additional District Magistrate, Imphal West, was a part of the trial of the case, which is currently pending at District and Sessions Court, Manipur West.
Ashokumar's official state-ment was examined before the alleged main accused namely, Nongthombam Ajoy, who is currently out on bail.
It may be mentioned that Soram Raj s/o Nabakumar of Nagamapal Soram Leirak, Bachaspatimayum Roshni-kumar Sharma alias Tonny s/o Rajbihari Sharma of Brah-mapur Thangapat Mapal, Thongam Anil alias Dhruba s/o (L) Ashokumar of Thang-meiband Meisnam Leikai and Puyam Sidhartha alias Boy s/o P Birendraj alias Biren Singh of Singjamei Mayeng-bam Leikai Oinam Thingel, were earlier arrested by the police in the case.
However, they were later discharged from the case by the Court after no prima facie evidence was found against them.
The case was handed over to CBI following a Cabinet decision.
Singjamei Police Station had also already registered a case under FIR number 131(3) 2011 U/S 302/34 Indian Penal Code and 27 Arms Act against all the five accused, who were arrested by the police a few days after the incident.
After CBI started their investigation into the case in 2011 under FIR number RC2(S) 2011 Imphal U/S 302 and submitted a charge sheet to the Session Judge, Manipur West on December 16, 2011, trail in the said the case is continuing till date.
All of them including the main accused in the case have already been released on bail few years back.
CBI has submitted a list of 72 prosecution witnesses including the co-accused and the near and dear ones of the victim Irom Rozer whose statement will be examined as prosecution witnesses by the Court during the trial.
