Imphal, August 16 2014 : The Tribal Youth Council Manipur strongly condemned the agreement signed between Sk Dev Verman, Principal Secretary (TA,H&SC) Government of Manipur and George K Maran, Joint Secretary, Tribal Affairs, Hills and Scheduled Caste, Government of Manipur to rename TA&Hills as TA,H&SC, according to statement issued by M Tolkham Maring, President, Tribal Youth Council Manipur, TYCM.

The statement said that the notification issued by the confidential and cabinet department, accord the name of Governor of Manipur to notify the entries in respect of Tribal Affairs & Hills Department is absurd and violation of Manipur (hill areas) District Council, Third Amendment Act 2008 (Manipur Act no.7 of 2008) Article 8 (XXVI) and 3(13) .

The State Cabinet or even the Parliament is not the legitimate authority to deal with the matter directed in the Article without taking the confidence of the HAC, the statement added.

It demanded the authority concerned to withdraw the order with immediate effect.

TYCM will initiate mass campaign in hill districts of Manipur if the appeal is not fulfilled.
