Imphal, January 16, 2011:
The audacious murder of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) Chairman inside his own office room at Babupara, the most heavily barricaded area was a conspiracy, asserted the proscribed UNLF in a press release issued by its senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba today.
This brutal murder must have been a conspiracy hatched by high-ranking bureaucrats driven by their greed for the late officer's post.
Presently, the alien rule is promoting a number of insincere, self-seeking officials who can commit murder just to get the official posts they want.
These high ranking officials have secret weapons and these weapons are used in committing many crimes in pursuit of their selfish ends.
There is no guarantee that these officials have not committed murder because of personal enmity.
On the other hand, their criminal acts evoked suspicion among the mass if insurgents were involved in the criminal acts.
The brutal murder of Dr N Kunjabihari was a deep rooted conspiracy aimed at eliminating all competent and sincere officers from the society, the UNLF asserted.
It went on to accuse the alien rule of breeding a number of armed groups whose activities are killing people, unleashing violence, hurling bombs, firing at civilian houses and abduction of people for ransom.
These groups masquerading as revolutionary groups have been defiling and impeding the revolutionary movement.
Crushed from both sides by security forces on one side and criminal armed groups on the other, the Manipuri people have become a terrified lot, even unable to breathe freely.
Taking advantage of this highly insecure and uncertainty over one's life and where brute force has become the language of many, security forces have been killing innocent people by concealing their real identities after clothing themselves in civilian dresses.
The disappearance of one Naorem Inaoba of Thamnapokpi Makha Leikai after he was picked up by some people who appeared to be police commandos from his home at about 5.30 pm of January 9 is a case in point, the outfit asserted.
Alleging that security forces have been nurturing their proxies by selecting some black sheep from the society, the outfit declared that it would not remain a silent spectator to the reactionary elements and their activities.
The current situation of killing and harassment would remain in the Manipuri society.
The only way out of this scourge is to build up the united strength of the public, added the statement.
