Imphal, November 15 2021:
Questioning if there is any noteworthy achievement of the BJP-led State Govern-ment, ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has categorically stated that whatever development seen in Manipur today are achievements of the previous Congress Government.
With a view to the next Manipur Legislative Assembly election which is due in early next year, a political conference was held today at Nambol Leimapokpam where the current political scenario of Manipur was deliberated at length.
Speaking at the political conference organised by the Nambol Block Congress Committee, CLP leader O Ibobi claimed that Congress is a disciplined political party.
For Congress party, the party president is the highest post and he/she is always above the party's Chief Minister.
The post of PCC president is something which cannot be occupied by any one just because he/she wants it.
It is no easy accomplishment that N Loken is now the PCC president, Ibobi said.

"We would be requesting under the leadership of MPCC president N Loken to all the people of Manipur to compare Congress party's 15 years rule with the current BJP rule", he said.
Even though MGNREGS was introduced by the UPA Government through an Act passed by the Parliament as a welfare scheme of unlimited budget, the incumbent BJP-led Government has transformed the scheme into a liability in the State, Ibobi said.
MGNREGS which guarantees jobs to the rural poor for not less than 100 days in a year is often hailed as a scheme which provides jobs to the largest number of people in the whole world.
Even though the Central Government releases funds for MGNREGS, the State Government has been holding back the same funds, he said.
BJP has been claiming the National Food Security Act as their own achievement.
Not only that, many other development works and welfare schemes executed and introduced by the Congress Government are being claimed by the BJP Government as their own achievements, Ibobi derided.
BJP would have no word to argue when the masses list the Congress Government's achievements after leaving out the works done by BJP, asserted the ex-Chief Minister.
He went on to ask which Government took up the different development projects seen today in Bishnupur district like the mini-secretariat, district hospital, road development works, water supply facilities etc.
The UPA Government took up a project called RGGVY in the name of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi with the objective of providing electricity to every household of the country and the project was almost completed before the UPA Government was toppled but BJP has been claiming that they have provided electricity to every household, Ibobi said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is only next to god if the more than 100 crore poor households were given electricity during the last five years, Ibobi ridiculed.
He went on to claim that the entire project was executed during the Congress Government.
By distributing just 10/20 LPG cylinders, BJP has been indulging in exaggerated publicity.
But the price of an LPG refill has almost tripled.
Moreover, prices of all essential commodities have skyrocketed.
A large section of the people are now not in a condition to buy and consume edible oil, Ibobi continued.
AICC election observer (Manipur in-charge) Jairam Ramesh asked what was the condition of Manipur 20 years back and how Manipur was transformed after the O Ibobi's Government which lasted for 15 years.
Now there are BJP Governments both at the Centre and the State which means there is a double engine but the double engine has no fuel, Jairam said.
RSS and BJP are exclusively for Nagpur and New Delhi.
Whereas BJP is a divisive force, Congress party is the country's unifying force, he claimed.
He went on to claim that Congress party would return to power in Manipur.
CWC Member Gaikhangam remarked that the election which would be held next year is a very crucial one for it would determine the fate of the State and the country.
The BJP-led Government was formed illegally after suppressing the Congress party which won 28 seats.
The incumbent illegal Government would be replaced by a Congress Government soon, he asserted.
MPCC president N Loken said that his fate in the coming election depends on the people gathered today at the political conference.
He appealed to the gathering to consider that they themselves are fighting the election and work accordingly.
MPCC working president I Hemochandra, MLA TN Haokip and AICC general secretary (Manipur in-charge) Bhakta Charan Das too addressed the conference.
