PFA Thoubal rescued and set free a poisonous snake, Rusell Viper from the possession of one Y Noren yesterday at Wanging Wangkhei.
Y Noren told PFA that the snake was brought to him by his son-in-law, who is working at Ukhrul.
He got the snake from his fellow workers.
Since a fortnight back, the family had reared the snake at their home.
On getting the information, the PFA went and took the snake into their custody.
Later the snake was identified to be a venomous Rusell's Viper.
It was set free at a remote and suitable place today, a PFA statement said.
Meanwhile, the PFA also rescued a slow loris from Heirok.
One Laishram Jiban Meitei of Heirok Litan Wangma found the displaced loris walking along the road.
He was badly bitten by the loris on his thumb while he tried to handle it yesterday night.
