Imphal, April 15 2015 :
Anti-AFSPA campaigner Irom Chanu Sharma on Wednesday was visibly upset with Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhngam for refusing to entertain an appointment with her.
The rights activist who has been on a fast for more than 14 years demanding repeal of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA, was presented as usual before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West Judge RK Memcha Devi around 11 am.
"I want to convey something about my ongoing fast inside the JNIMS security ward to Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam.
He has declined my request," Sharmila told journalists after coming out from the Cheirap Court room.
The social activist also accused the State Government of totally ignoring her struggle.
She said she wrote a letter to Gaikhangam pleading with him to come and meet her inside the hospital security ward-turned-prison last January.
"The Deputy CM in a reply to her letter said he could not do so as she was in a prison," Shramila said.
The crusader asked why a public leader like Gaikhangam should be so arrogant and said "I'm really disappointed with Gaikhangam's decision" .
