Imphal, January 15 2022:
Wakhallon Mannaba (WAMA) Kangleipak observed the 15th death anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba at Wakha Leimaching in Imphal East district, today.

The main event, on the other hand, was held at Rupmahal Theatre.
There, a show 'Lambishigee Aroibada' (Phambak Kumhei) written by Akaba was staged.
At the event, Leishemba Sanajaoba stated that Manipuri script will be incorporated in the fresh Indian currency notes.
Saying that the department concerned not sending the required documents to upgrade Manipuri language to the status of classical is disappointing, the MP continued that the State will have the opportunity to identify foreign words and correct 'our language through research if Manipuri language receives classical tag' .
Maintaining that the State has received assurance for adding Manipuri language in fresh currency notes, the MP continued that he will raise the matter of upgrading Manipur University of Culture to Central University in Parliament.
He urged the people to follow the footsteps of Chingsubam Akaba who strived to promote the culture of Manipur instead of just observing his death or birth anniversary.
