Imphal, November 14 2013: Road repairing, median painting and other beautification works presently going on at different areas of Imphal city would be completed by November 20, stated Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar.

Speaking to media persons at his office this afternoon, the Minister noted that the ongoing repairing and painting works on some major roads of Imphal city, particularly along Tidim Road has been causing some inconveniences to the public even to the extent of causing fatal road mishaps.

Ratankumar appealed to all the people to be more careful while driving at night.

In view of the foreign delegations who are coming to attend the Manipur Sangai Tourism Festival 2013, repairing and beautification works of the roads leading to RIMS, JNIMS, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnostics Centre, Manipur University and Sendra are being carried out day and night at a hectic pace for Myanmarese delegates, Chinese delegates and the Bangladesh High Commissioner who will visit these places, Ratankumar said.

To avert traffic congestion at the festival venue, vehicles of visitors would not be allowed entry at the main venue.

Their vehicles would be allowed to park at different spots of Imphal city from where the visitors would be picked up and brought to the festival venue JNURM buses and 70 other private buses, he added.

However the road in front of Lamphel police station, which leads to Shija Hospital, which has been highlighted as one of the destinations during the festival is still in a shabby state.
